Ceylon Resturant
About This Spot
Stepping into Ceylon Restaurant in the heart of Riyadh’s Al Malaz district is like opening a door to a vibrant corner of Sri Lanka. The air is infused with the warm aromas of spices—cinnamon, cardamom, and curry leaves—that immediately invite you to slow down and tune into a rich culinary story. It’s a space that balances the comfort of familiar, home-style cooking with the gentle hum of a neighborhood gathering spot, where the pace feels unhurried and genuine.
The atmosphere here is welcoming in a way that feels personal rather than polished. The staff greets you like neighbors, quietly attentive without interfering, adding to that sense of being in a space defined by heart and tradition rather than formality. You’ll notice how the din of conversation softly blends with sounds from the open kitchen, where meals are prepared with care, echoing the rhythms of Sri Lankan home kitchens.
What sets Ceylon apart is the way its menu is woven into this experience, reflecting culinary traditions that are as diverse as the island itself. Rather than simply ordering food, you embark on a subtle journey through layers of flavor—whether it’s the delicate comfort of egg hoppers alongside a fragrant coconut curry or the lively textures in chicken kottu that conjure memories of street-side night markets. Morning or evening, there’s a feeling of sharing moments with friends and family, anchored by dishes that are both nourishing and deeply rooted in cultural memory.
The charm of this place lies not only in the food but in those small human moments: a shared smile over a freshly brewed cup of Sri Lankan milk tea, the quiet appreciation of a perfectly balanced dal curry, or the surprise of discovering a beloved bakery bread cutlet tucked among the offerings. It’s in these details that Ceylon feels less like a restaurant and more like a welcome gesture—a bridge between Riyadh and a distant island home, crafted with warmth and authenticity.

Stepping into Ceylon Restaurant felt like a culinary journey through Sri Lanka. From the moment I entered, the aromatic spices filled the air, promising a delightful dining experience. The menu offered a tantalizing array of traditional Sri Lankan dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors and made with care. I savored every bite of the fragrant biryani, perfectly cooked and richly seasoned. The hoppers, with their crispy edges and soft centers, paired beautifully with the flavorful curries. The attentive service and inviting ambiance added to the overall charm of the restaurant. Ceylon Restaurant truly delivers an unforgettable taste of Sri Lanka, leaving me eager to return for another culinary adventure.

One of the best Sri lankan restaurant in Riyadh. Chicken Kottu, Dolphin & Egg hoppers can be recommended here. Fish Kottu is very average. You can have a very good chai at this restaurant. Shories also very tasty specially beef rotties at evening times. Very fresh & hot. Overall service is up to standard. Much recommend.

Another best place for Srilankan foods in Riyadh. Highly recommended. Personal favourite 'Kottu' and the 'Roast Paan' with 'Curry and pol sambol' is Amazing.
